NNPC's gas pipelines projects are moving forward (Nigeria)

The Nigerian state-run oil and gas company Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has signed engineering, procurement, construction (EPC) contracts for the 614-km long Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) gas pipeline project. Once built, the US$2.8bn pipeline will enable connectivity between the East, West and North of the country and will also supply the West African Gas Pipeline (WAGP). The contract was awarded to a consortium of Nigerian and Chinese companies on a 100% contractor financing model.



The pipeline project will be divided in three phases; the first one (US$855m) will stretch across 200 km from Ajaokuta to Abuja, while the second one (US$835m, 193 km) will run from from Abuja to Kaduna and the third one from the Kaduna Terminal Gas Station (TGS) to Kano TGS (US$1.2bn, 221 km).



Between 2010 and 2018, over 500 km of has pipelines have been completed, of which the Oben-Geregu, the Escravos-Warri-Oben and the Ukanafun-Calabar pipelines.
