The Indian state-owned coal mining and power generation company NLC India has been awarded an 810 MW solar PV project from Rajasthan power distribution company Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Nigam Ltd (RRVUNL). The project will be built as part of RRVUNL’s 2 GW Ultra Mega Solar Park loacted in the Pugal town of the Bikaner District, in the Indian State of Rajasthan.
RRVUNL issued the tender to develop the solar project in December 2022. NLC quoted a tariff of INR2.64/kWh (US$3c/kWh) to win the auction. The land for the project and the power evacuation system connected to the State transmission utility will be provided by RRVUNL, which will enter into a power purchase agreement (PPA) with NLC for 25 years. The project must be commissioned within 15 months of the PPA signing date.
NLC currently has an installed renewable energy capacity of 1.4 GW, with an additional 2.11 GW of projects under development.
