NLC India Renewables, a subsidiary of the Indian coal miner NLC India, has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd. (RVUNL) for an 810 MW solar power project, to be built in India’s Rajasthan State.
The project will be established in the 2 GW Pugal Solar Park, currently being developed by RVUNL in the Bikaner district. Once completed, the 810 MW solar project is expected to generate around 2 TWh/year of electricity and help offset emissions by around 1.5 MtCO2eq/year. NLC India Renewables secured the project through a competitive tariff-based bidding process by RVUNL.
India plans to increase its non-fossil fuel capacity to 500 GW by 2030.
