Nine offshore wind zones awarded in the UK with a total capacity of 32 GW

The Crown Estate awarded nine offshore wind energy zones in the UK. This Round 3 aims to install a total capacity of 32 GW.

The developers who have signed exclusivity zone agreements are :

- Moray Offshore Renewables (EDP Renovaveis, 75%) for the Moray Firth Zone (1.3 GW),

- SeaGreen Wind Energy (SSE, Fluor) for the Firth of Forth Zone (3.5 GW),

- Forewind Consortium (SSE Renewables, RWE npower Renewables, Statoil, Stakraft) for the Dogger Bank Zone (9 GW),

- Siemens Project Ventures and Mainstream Renewable Power for the Hornsea Zone (4 GW),

- EastAnglia Offshore Wind (Scottish Power Renewables, Vattenfall Vindkraft) for the Norfolk Bank Zone (7.2 GW),

- E.ON Climate and Renewables UK for the Hastings Zone (0.6 GW),

- Eneco New Energy for the West Isle of Wight Zone (0.9 GW),

- RWE npower Renewables for the Bristol Channel Zone (1.5 GW) and

- Centrica Renewable Energy and RES Group for the Irish Sea Zone (4.2 GW).



In May 2010, the Crown Estate finally add 2 GW to the total capacity, through the extension of licensed awarded during Round 1 and 2.
