The government of the Netherlands has published a site description for the Borssele 3 and 4 offshore wind projects off the coast of South Holland and set a date for the second Borssele tender, which will be opened on 15 September 2016 and will close on 29 September 2016.
The capacity of the Borssele 3 wind park will range between 322 MW and 360 MW, while that of Borssele 4 will range between 342 MW and 380 MW. The total tender will be capped at around 680 MW.
Earlier in July 2016, Danish energy group DONG Energy was selected to build two 350 MW offshore wind parks, Borssele 1 and 2 as part of the first phase of the Borssele wind project. By 2020, about 1.4 GW of offshore wind capacity should be operational off Borssele. The third and fourth tenders are expected in 2017 and 2018 off the coast of South Holland. The fifth tender, off North Holland, is due in 2019. The Netherlands has capped maximum subsidies to be paid for the 2015 tender to €5bn.
