The Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) has launched a streamlined auction for the 1 GW Nederwiek 1-A offshore wind project, located 95 km off the west coast of Texel. Developers have until 30 October 2025 to apply for a permit for the site. The wind park will be connected to a TenneT platform that provides a 2 GW direct current link to an onshore station near Borssele. The winning bidder is expected to be announced in spring 2026, with construction scheduled to begin no earlier than 2030.
Initially, two 2 GW lots were planned for auction in September 2025, but in 2024, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy decided to halve the project’s scale. The government anticipates that this reduction will help limit risks and encourage greater participation from market players.
