The French independent power producer (IPP) Neoen has commissioned the 440 MWp (350 MWac) Culcairn solar park in New South Wales (Australia), completing what is now the company’s second-largest solar asset worldwide (Neoen announcement, 06/05/2026).
The solar PV facility is equipped with around 760,000 modules and is connected to the National Electricity Market (NEM), which covers Australia’s eastern and southern regions, through an on-site 330 kV transmission line operated by TransGrid.
“Culcairn is our second largest solar asset globally and will produce enough energy to power 160,000 homes in a year. We are proud of the contributions it will now make to help New South Wales in its target of reducing carbon emissions by 50% by 2030”, said the company
The commissioning phase started in early 2025, and the project has now reached full operational status ahead of schedule. In 2024, Neoen entered into a four-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with SmartestEnergy Australia, covering 50% of the plant’s output.
