National Grid awards carbon sequestration concept study work (UK)

Wood Group Kenny was appointed by National Grid to perform study work in relation to development options National Grid is investigating to transport and inject carbon dioxide (CO2) into a prospective offshore saline aquifer storage location in the UK sector of the Southern North Sea. Wood Group Kenny will work together with its sister company Wood Group Mustang to complete the design work as a combined project team. The Wood Group Kenny scope involves concept design, scheduling and cost estimating for offshore pipeline and subsea facilities, which include the trunkline from a landfall site to the offshore injection facilities, as well as subsea structures, cables and umbilicals, and the trunk line shore approach and crossing. The company will also perform flow assurance modelling from the landfall to the aquifer sand face, which is essential to demonstrating the offshore transportation and storage concept. Wood Group Mustang will perform concept design of the offshore surface facilities including the jacket and topsides infrastructure.
