Nadara submits 1.8 GW floating wind project in Scotland (UK) for approval

Nadara has submitted Section 36 planning and marine licence applications for its 1.8 GW Bellrock floating wind project offshore eastern Scotland (United Kingdom) (Nadara press release, 01/04/2026). The developer also plans to submit the project to obtain a separate permit for the onshore transmission infrastructure

The Bellrock project is planned to cover 280 km2 with up to 132 turbine generators and 300 km of inter-array cables. It is expected to have a construction period of up to 7 years, with construction being scheduled for 2031 and commercial operations in 2037. Once operational, the project should be able to supply power to 1.7 million homes.

In December 2025, Nadara acquired a 2.9 GW floating offshore wind pipeline in the United Kingdom from BlueFloat Energy, which included the 1.8 GW Bellrock, 900 MW Broadshore, and the Sinclair and Scaraben floating wind projects (100 MW each), all planned to be developed off the coasts of Scotland (UK) (KEI, 01/12/2025).
