Nabucco and TANAP gas pipeline consortia will cooperate (Europe)

Nabucco Gas Pipeline International has signed a Memorandum of Understanding and Co-operation (MoU) with the Trans-Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP), in which the two parties formally agree to co-operate on the development of the Southern Gas Corridor. The MoU states that Nabucco and TANAP will exchange technical and other strategic information and “cooperate in a manner that will support the development of their respective projects.”

The Nabucco pipeline is planned to take Caspian Region gas from the Turkish-Bulgarian border via Bulgaria, Romania and Hungary to the Central European Gas Hub at Baumgarten. The Nabucco shareholders are Bulgarian Energy Holding (Bulgaria), Botas (Turkey), FGSZ (Hungary), OMV (Austria), Transgaz (Romania).

The TANAP project intends for the transportation of the natural gas to be produced in Shah Deniz 2 field and other fields of Azerbaijan (and other possible neighboring countries) through Turkey to Europe. The project is developed by the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), and Botas and/or Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO).
