The Moroccan Agency for Solar Energy (MASEN) plans to begin the tender process for the construction of two CSP power plants in September 2013 (request for proposal stage) and the shortlisted companies will be announced in January 2014. Seven consortia have already been pre-qualified to enter a bid at the request for proposal (RFP) stage for the right to design, finance, construct, operate and maintain one or more of the plants. The plants, with a capacity of 100 MW and 200 MW, will be located at the NOOR solar power center in Ouarzazate (Morocco).
The four consortia permitted to bid on the NOOR III tower are Abengoa and Abengoa Solar; International Company for Water and Power Projects with Sener Ingeneria y Systemas; a consortium consisting of EDF, EDF Energies Nouvelles, Brightsource Energy, Brookstone Partners Morocco, Alstom Power and Mitsui & Co. and the final consortium will be International Power with Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company in partneship with Solar Reserve.
