Morocco’s National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE) and the Agency for Sustainable Energy (Masen) have signed PPAs (power purchase agreements) for the development, financing, construction and operation of the Noor Atlas solar programme (Le360, 06/03/2026). With this, six solar power plants with a combined capacity of 305 MW will start construction works across Morocco.
The power plants are planned to be developed on the sites of Aïn Béni Mathar (Jerada Province), Boudnib (Errachidia Province), Bouanane (Figuig Province), Enjil (Boulemane Province), Tata (Tata Province) and Tan-Tan (Tan-Tan Province), with Masen as its operator and in charge of its maintenance in EPC mode. The solar facilities are expected to start operations by July 2027.
The programme was financed by KfW and the European Investment Bank (EIB) in partnership with the Bank of Africa, ONEE and Masen.
