Moroccan ONE pre-selects six consortia for 850 MW wind project

The National Office of Electricity and Water supply of Morocco (ONE) has shortlisted six consortia for developing several wind parks with a cumulated power capacity of 1,000 MW, enabling to reach 2,000 MW in wind capacity in 2020. The ONE had received 16 submissions for the "Integrated wind project" of 850 MW.

The selected five consortia are :

- EDF Energies Nouvelles (France) - Mitsui (Japan) - Alstom (France);

- Nareva Holding (Morocco) - Taqa (United Arab Emirates) - Enel Green Power (Italy) - Siemens (Germany);

- International Power (UK) - Vestas (Danemark);

- ACWA Power (Saudi Arabia) - Gamesa (Spain);

- General Electric (US);

- Acciona (Spain) - Al Ajial Funds (Morocco).

The 850 MW wind project is the second phase of the wind programme in Morocco (first phase corresponding to 150 MW at Taza). The second phase will consist of 5 wind parks with a capacity of 850 MW and will include the expansion by 200 MW of the Koudia al Baida wind park. It will be developed through a public-private partnership and will benefit from European funding.
