Masdar will build two 200 MW solar projects in Uzbekistan

Masdar has won the tenders for two 200 MW solar PV projects in eastern Uzbekistan. The Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates) group won the 200 MW project in the Samarkand region with a bid of US$1.791c/kWh and the 200 MW project in the Jizzakh region with a bid of US$1.823c/kWh. The tender was launched in February 2020, when the Uzbek government published an invitation for expression of interest for two solar power projects, which will be built under public-private partnerships (PPPs). The tender had attracted 7 bids for the Jizzakh site and 6 bids for the Samarkand site.

Earlier in May 2021, Masdar also emerged as the lower bidder for a 200 MW solar PV project in Sherabad, in the Surkhandarya region. The group submitted a bid of US$1.8045c/kWh (US$18.45/MWh) for a 457 MW project (option to submit offers beyond the 200 MW target) in a tender that was also launched in February 2020.
