Masdar and Taaleri reach financial close for 154 MW wind project in Serbia

Masdar Taaleri Generation, a joint venture of the Emirati renewable developer Masdar and the Finnish developer Taaleri Energia, has announced the financial close for the 154 MW Čibuk 2 wind project in Serbia. The project consists of 22 turbines supplied by Nordex, which will also be providing operations and maintenance services for the project for a 35-year period. The €144m project is expected to be completed by early 2026.

The project will be adjacent to Masdar and Taaleri’s existing 158 MW Čibuk 1 wind power plant just northeast of Belgrade and both projects will be sharing the same grid connection point. Masdar Taaleri Generation developed the project in partnership with Serbian firm New Energy Solutions after becoming one of the awarded projects for Serbia’s first wind power auction in 2023, signing a contract for difference (CfD) with a market premium for electricity from 108.5 MW of the power plant at €73.7/MWh.

At the end of 2023, Serbia had a total installed capacity of almost 8 GW, of which 6.5% came from wind (510 MW).
