Masdar acquires eight wind and solar hybrid projects in Poland (1 GW)

The Emirati renewable energy company Masdar and the Finnish developer Taaleri Energia have announced the acquisition of an over 1 GW renewable portfolio in Poland. The deal includes eight hybrid solar and wind projects that are expected to be commissioned between 2026 and 2030. Once operational, the eight projects, which were acquired from the Polish developer Domrel Biuro Uslug Inwestycyjnych, are expected to generate enough power to supply approximately 223,000 Polish households and offset emissions by 1.8 MtCO2/year.

By developing hybrid solar PV and wind projects, Masdar is capitalising on recent amendments to the Polish Energy Law, known as Cable Pooling, which allow for the linking of different renewable energy sources in a single grid connection. The amendment, which entered into force in October 2023, is expected to add approximately 25 GW of renewable capacity in Poland.
