Malaysia’s Bumi Armada partners with Pertamina on Indonesian LNG project

The Malaysian company Bumi Armada has signed a non-binding agreement with Indonesia’s Pertamina International Shipping and gas trading company Davenergy Mulia Perkasa to develop and commercialise LNG from the Madura gas field and its surrounding fields in Indonesia.

Under the agreement, Bumi and Pertamina will design, construct, install and operate a floating gas liquefaction and storage facility, as well as an LNG carrier. The first shipment of LNG is anticipated to take place three years after making a final investment decision on the project.

The Madura gas field, operated by Husky-CNOOC Madura Ltd (HCML), a subsidiary of the Canadian company Husky Energy, has reserves amounting to 441.7 bcf (12.5 bcm) of gas and 18.7 Mboe of condensate. It has an expected field life of 13 years. Production from the field started in 2017.
