The UK-based energy company Low Carbon has unveiled plans to build two onshore wind project in Romania with a capacity totalling up to 600 MW. Sharing the same grid connection point, the projects are principally located in the communes of Adamclisi & Deleni in Constanta county. The Adamclisi & Deleni projects are expected to reach financial close by 2023.
The projects have been launched in partnership with Rezolv Energy, an independent power producer focused on renewables in Central and South Eastern Europe. Recently launched by Actis; Rezolv has acquired a 51% stake in the project. Low Carbon has been stewarding the Adamclisi, Deleni and Vis Viva projects since 2020, when the investor first entered the transaction with local developers and Nero Renewables NV.
Wind accounts for 15% of Romania's installed capacity, with 3 GW (2021). More than 5.7 GW of wind project are currently under development.
