Low Carbon secures €266m to develop 1 GW of solar in the UK and Netherlands

Low Carbon, a private British renewable energy investment and asset management company, has secured £230m (€266m) of financing from Lloyds Bank, NatWest and AIB to develop several renewable projects across the UK and the Netherlands, including 1 GW of solar PV capacity.

The initial £230m will be injected into Low Carbon’s growing renewable portfolio which includes the construction of an initial 500 MW of new solar PV capacity across 17 assets in the Netherlands and the UK. Further investment could see this capacity expanded to 1GW of total solar PV capacity with the ability to raise an additional £200m (€232m).

In October 2021, Low Carbon also announced plans to develop a 500 MW solar-plus-storage project near Gate Burton in Lincolnshire, England (United Kingdom).

Low Carbon plans to reach 20 GW of new renewable installed capacity, as well as become carbon neutral, by 2030.
