Lithuanian energy supplier Ignitis has signed a 10-year liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply agreement with US natural gas producer EQT Corporation (Lithuanian government press release, 21/09/2026). The agreement followed a tender launched on 25 August 2026, in which EQT Corporation submitted the most competitive binding offer. According to the statement, Ignitis has agreed to purchase 10 LNG cargoes between 2027 and 2036, comprising one cargo per year. Each shipment represents around 1 TWh of natural gas, bringing contracted supply to approximately 10 TWh over the period.
The contract represents Ignitis’ first long-term gas supply agreement with a US company. Its pricing mechanism is linked to both the US Henry Hub and the European Title Transfer Facility (TTF) indices, introducing US gas market pricing into the company’s household supply portfolio for the first time.
According to Lithuania’s Ministry of Energy, the dual-index mechanism is designed to reduce dependence on European wholesale prices and limit the effects of sudden TTF price increases on household bills.
