Lightsource bp has sold a portfolio of solar facilities with a combined capacity of about 1 GW to Aula Energy, a company by Macquarie Asset Manager (Lightsource bp press release, 22/02/2026). The sale comprised five solar PV projects (Wellington, Wellington North, West Wyalong, Woolooga and Wunghnu) located in the Australian regions of New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria. In total, the projects have a combined capacity of 1,037 MW with the potential to generate about 2.23 TWh/year.
The company had previously announced the sale of these assets in 2023, but the transaction was unsuccessful due to regulatory timing constraints.
The move is aligned with Lightsource bp’s strategy to focus on “developing hybrid renewable projects that combine onshore solar and wind with battery storage to deliver firm, flexible, and low-cost energy.” The company has a 9.5 GW portfolio of solar, wind and BESS assets in the Asia-Pacific region.
