Lightsource bp secures financing for a 560 MW solar project in Greece

Enipeas Single-Member, a subsidiary of the UK-based renewable project developer Lightsource bp, has entered a €315m agreement with Eurobank and the Greek Public State for the financing of a 560 MWp solar project, which will be located near the cities of Larissa and Fthiotida in central Greece. The financing is led by Eurobank and includes €145.3m provided by the bank and €170m coming from the EU’s Recovery and Resilience Fund.

The Enipeas solar project, which will require a total investment of €395m, will consist of a 400 MWp southern cluster and a 160 MWp northern cluster. It is expected to be commissioned by 2026. The project is expected to produce 0.9 TWh/year, enough to power about 225,000 Greek households and meet almost 2% of domestic production.

In 2022, solar represented over 22% of Greece’s installed capacity with 5.5 GW (over 7 GW at the end of 2023 according to preliminary estimates) and about 14% of its power generation with over 7 TWh.
