Kyushu Electric restarts the Genkai-3 nuclear reactor (Japan)

The Japanese power utility Kyushu Electric Power Company will restart the Genkai-3 nuclear reactor in the Higashimatsuura District of Saga Prefecture, (Japan) on 23 March 2018, and power generation will restart on 25 March 2018. The restart of the facility was approved by the city of Genkai and the Saga Prefecture governor in March and April 2017, respectively. The company already began to load fuel into the reactor core in February 2018.

So far, six Japanese nuclear reactors have cleared inspections confirming they meet the new safety standards and have resumed operation again since their shutdown in 2011: Sendai-1 and Sendai-2 -Kyushu Electric), Ikata-3 (Shikoku Electric), Takahama-3 and Takahama-4 (Kansai Electric), and Ohi-3 (Kansai Electric). Another 18 have applied to restart.
