Kino Aski and Marinvest Energy Canada have unveiled plans for the joint development of Kino Aski LNG, a First Nations-led energy corridor and LNG project in Quebec (Canada), aimed at supplying European markets (Kino Aski LNG statement, 17/08/2026). Kino Aski is expected to hold a majority stake in Kino Aski LNG, the company established to develop the project, while Marinvest Energy Canada will retain a minority stake.
According to the press release, the project is intended to produce up to 15 Mt/year of LNG, with operations powered by renewable electricity generated in Quebec. Natural gas will be sourced from Western Canada and transported to the Port of Baie-Comeau, which operates year-round, through a combination of existing and newly developed pipeline infrastructure.
Kino Aski and Marinvest Energy Canada stressed that Kino Aski LNG is still at the development stage. Engagement with governments, communities, and industry partners is continuing, and no formal regulatory process has yet been initiated. Further information will be made available as technical studies, environmental assessments, and consultations with rightsholders and stakeholders progress.
Canada is continuing to reinforce its position in the global LNG sector, backed by a growing pipeline of projects under development and several commercial agreements concluded recently.
