KazTransGas to puchase all gas from Kashagan gas field (Kazakhstan)

KazTransGas, the national gas operator of Kazakhstan, and contracting companies in the Production Sharing Agreement (PSA) for the North-Caspian project signed the agreement of purchase and sale of gas produced in the Kashagan giant gas field. Under the terms of the contract KazTransGas will purchase all the Kashagan gas produced until 2042. The planned annual volume of Kashagan gas supply will be from 2.5 to 3.0 bcm.

Among the contracting companies under the PSA are Agip Caspian Sea BV, ConocoPhillips North Caspian Ltd., ExxonMobil Kazakhstan Congress., Inpex North Caspian Sea, KMG Kashagan BV, Shell Kazakhstan Development BV and Total E&P Kazakhstan.

Exploitation of the Kashagan gas field in the Kazakh sector of the Caspian Sea will begin in fall 2013. To date, members of the Kashagan project are Eni, Royal Dutch Shell, ExxonMobil, Total and KazMunaiGas (16.81% each), ConocoPhillips (8.4%) and Inpex (7.55%).
