Kazakhstan's 2022 oil and gas production exceeded targets

According to preliminary data released by the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan, crude oil and condensate production in Kazakhstan reached 84 Mt in 2022, exceeding targets by 1.6%. The Tengiz oil field produced 29.2 Mt of crude oil, Karachaganak 11.3 Mt and Kashagan 12.7 Mt. Crude oil exports exceeded plans by 3.4%, at 64.3 Mt. In addition, Kazakhstan produced 13.7 Mt of oil products (3.2% above the target).

Moreover, total gas production exceeded its 2022 target, at 53.3 bcm, even if commercial gas production missed the target by 6% to 27.8 bcm due ot restrictions of gas intake at the Orenburg gas refinery and prolonged maintenance works at the Tengiz and Kashagan fields. Commercial gas domestic consumption increased to 19.3 bcm, reducing available volumes for exports, which reached 4.6 bcm in 2022 (85% of the plan).
