Jordan approves ammonia plant powered by 500 MW solar+500 MWh BESS

The government of Jordan has approved a USD1bn green ammonia plant powered by 550 MW solar plant and 500 MWh BESS in the Port of Aqaba in southern Jordan, proposed by the Polish hydrogen project developer Hynfra, in partnership with Abu Dhabi headquartered Fidelity Group. The Jordan Green Ammonia project would comprise a facility with 100 kt/year production capacity for ammonia. This approval is a “crucial step” toward achieving financial closure, targeted for September 2027, and for commissioning in 2030.
