JinkoSolar will supply 3 GW of solar panels for projects in Saudi Arabia

The Chinese solar PV supplier JinkoSolar has signed a supply contract with the Saudi company ACWA Power to deliver 3 GW of solar panels for the PIF4 solar cluster project in Saudi Arabia. The contract features two major sub-projects within the PIF4 cluster, namely the 1.2 GW Haden project, located near Makkah, and the 1.8 GW Al-Khushaybi project, located in the centre of the country. The  Haden solar project will be developed by the China Energy Engineering Group Consortium, while the Al-Khushaybi solar project will be built by the Indian conglomerate Larsen&Toubro.

In July 2024, JinkoSolar had signed an agreement to supply 1 GW of solar modules for the NEOM Green Hydrogen Project in Saudi Arabia, also led by ACWA power.

Saudi Arabia plans to reach 50% renewable energy in the production capacity by 2030 and net-zero emissions by 2060. The country’s solar capacity stood at just under 2.3 GW as of end-2023 (2.5% of the country’s total installed capacity).
