Jiasheng Gas, a Chinese independent gas distributor, has signed an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract with China Wuhuan Engineering to build a 1.5 Mt/year LNG regasification terminal at the Jiangyin port in Jiangsu province (east-central China). The CNY2.5bn (US$380m) project, which also comprises two 100,000 cm storage tanks, will take about two years to build (commissioning in late 2023 or early 2024). Jiasheng Gas plans to expand the project at a later stage, with a second 1.5 Mt/year phase and another 160,000 cm tank.
China operates 27 LNG regasification terminals, for a total capacity of 69 Mt/year (93 bcm/year) (November 2020). Three projects were commissioned in 2019: the Fujian LNG-phase 3 (1.5 bcm/year, Fujian LNG), the Hua'an Shenzhen Gas Peak Shaving Terminal (1.1 bcm/year, Shenzhen Gas Group), and CNOOC's Fangchenggang LNG (0.8 bcm/year). Several regasification terminals are under construction, representing a capacity of 63 Mt/year (85.5 bcm/year)
