JGC wins EPC order to expand 12 Mt/year Cameron LNG plant (US)

Cameron LNG, the LNG joint venture of Sempra Infrastructure, Mitsui & Co., Mitsubishi, TotalEnergies and NYK Line, has awarded a Front End Engineering Design (FEED) and Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract to the Japanese group JGC Holdings and its joint venture partner Zachry Industrial for the planned expansion of its Cameron LNG terminal in Cameron Parish, Louisiana (United States).

Cameron LNG, which operates three 4 Mt/year liquefaction trains (total production capacity of 12 Mt/year or 16.2 bcm), aims to add a fourth liquefaction train with a maximum production capacity of 6.75 Mt/year (or 9.1 bcm). The US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) approved an expansion project (adding two 4.98 Mt/year trains each) in 2016 but in January 2022, Cameron LNG requested a revision in its permit to replace the two LNG trains by a single, larger liquefaction train. The group aims to start construction in April 2023 and to complete the project in the third quarter of 2027.
