Invenergy and BW Offshore form JV to develop offshore wind project in Scotland (UK)

Invenergy and BW Offshore plan to form a joint venture to develop up to 5.4 GW of offshore wind as part of the first ScotWind leasing round in Scotland (United Kingdom). The joint venture will focus on developing both floating and fixed foundation offshore wind projects off the Northeast Coast of Scotland.

The ScotWind leasing round is part of the Scottish government's plan to reach up to 11 GW of offshore wind capacity by 2030. An area of 8,600 km2 of Scottish seabed is potentially available for the development of 10 GW of offshore wind capacity. The leasing round has attracted many bidders, including Equinor, ESB, RWE, a consortium of BP and EnBW, a consortium of SSE Renewables, Marubeni Corporation and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), a consortium of ScottishPower (Iberdrola) / Shell, a consortium of Red Rock Power (SDIC) / Eni, a consortium of Ørsted / Falck Renewables / BlueFloat Energy, a consortium of Ocean Winds (50/50 JV between EDPR and Engie) / Aker Offshore Wind, and a consortium of TotalEnergies / Macquarie Green Investment Group (GIG) / Renewable Infrastructure Development Group (RIDG).
