Inter RAO's total power generation increased by 0.7% in 2017 (Russia)

The Russian energy holding company Inter RAO has published its 2017 yearly results and announced a 0.7% increase in its power generation to nearly 135 TWh, thanks to a 1.7% increase in Russia (to 122 TWh). Its installed electric capacity increased by 310 MW in 2017 to 32,715 MW (of which 28,460 MW in Russia only). The key drivers behind this change are the commissioning of 1,470 MW of new power generation capacity, including the 447 MW Verkhnetagilskaya thermal power plant and the 903 MW Permskaya power plant. Power generation outside Russia declined by 8.2% to 12.7 TWh.

The company's retail power sales in Russia grew by 9% in 2017 to 182.5 TWh, raising its share in the Russian retail market reached from 15.9% in 2016 to 17.2% in 2017 (over 14.6 million consumers in 2017, up from 12.9 million in 2016). In 2017, Inter RAO doubled its electricity imports to 6.2 TWh (doubling imports from Kazakhstan to 5.7 TWh), while it reduced electricity exports (-1.8% to 16.7 TWh).
