Inpex's 8.9 Mt/year Ichthys LNG project starts exports (Australia)

The US$34bn Ichthys LNG project located in Darwin (Northern Territory, Australia), has started to export liquefied natural gas (LNG). The first cargo has left Darwin following the production start-up at the end of July 2018.



Ichthys LNG will market reserves of more than 3 Gboe located offshore Australia, including 500 mbl of condensate. The LNG export facility includes two trains with a total capacity of 8.9 Mt/y of LNG along with 100,000 bbl/d of condensate. LNG is currently being produced from the first 4.45 Mt/year liquefaction train, with the second 4.45 Mt/year train expected to start up later in 2018.



Ichthys LNG is led by Inpex (62.245%) and Total (30%), while the remaining stakes are spread between the Australian subsidiaries of CPC Corporation (2.625%), Tokyo Gas (1.575%), Osaka Gas (1.2%), Kansai Electric Power (1.2%), JERA (0.735%) and Toho Gas (0.42%).
