INPEX starts feasibility study for Shin Tokyo gas pipeline (Japan)

INPEX has started a feasibility study on the extension of “Shin Tokyo Line,” its existing natural gas trunk pipeline in Japan, in view of a steadily growing gas demand in the North Kanto Area, Japan. The Shin Tokyo Line is 213 km long from Joetsu City, Niigata Prefecture to Fujioka City, Gunma Prefecture. The feasibility study focuses on the potential pipeline route and pipeline specifications to extend Shin Tokyo Line southward for approximately 16 km from its current end Fujioka City, to reach Honjo City, Saitama Prefecture. Based on the results of the feasibility study, the final investment decision is expected this year. The gas pipeline could be commissioned in late 2017.
