Infinity Power and Hassan Allam Utilities (HAU) Energy have signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) for the development of a 1 GW wind project in Egypt’s Red Sea Governorate (Infinity Power announcement, 01/09/2026).
The agreement relates to the Ras Shokeir Wind Project, to be developed in the Gulf of Suez region. Once operational, the 1 GW wind park is expected to generate sufficient electricity to serve more than 1.2 million Egyptian homes. The project is also estimated to cut annual CO2 emissions by more than 1.36 Mt. Its power generation is expected to contribute to Infinity Power’s objective of reaching 10 GW of operational renewable energy capacity by 2032.
The Ras Shokeir site was chosen for the wind park because it lies within the Gulf of Suez wind corridor, an area regarded as offering strong wind resources suitable for large-scale electricity generation.

Together with its partners, HAU Energy is involved in renewable energy projects representing more than USD3.5bn in investment across a 3.3 GW development portfolio.
The two companies are strengthening their activities in Egypt. In November 2025, Infinity Power and Hassan Allam Utilities Energy Platform signed agreements with the Egyptian government to develop two renewable energy projects in the country. The projects will have a combined capacity of 1.2 GW of solar power and 720 MWh of battery storage (KEI, 10/11/2025). Egypt aims to reach a 45% share of renewables in its power mix by 2028.
According to our data, natural gas dominates the Egyptian power mix (78% in 2025, +4 pp since 2010); it is followed by oil (8%, -7 pp), hydropower (7%, -2 pp), wind (4%, +3 pp), and solar (3%, +3 pp). Gas capacity saw a 42% increase from 2016 to 2018, following the commissioning by Egyptian Electricity Holding Company (EEHC) of 3 CCGT of 4.8 GW each (Enerdata Global Energy Research).
