India’s Rays Power Infra will develop a 1.8 GW solar power plant in Rajasthan

The Indian solar developer Rays Power Infra has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the government of Rajasthan to build a 1.8 GW solar power plant in the western Indian state. The power plant will be divided into three 300 MW projects and one 900 MW project, and will require an estimated investment of over INR91bn (US$1.1bn).

Rays Power Infra, created in 2011, has already commissioned 1.3 GW of solar capacity across India, and is currently developing a portfolio of about 2 GW.

At the end of 2021, solar and wind accounted for over 20% of installed capacity in India, with respectively 49 GW and 40 GW. India plans to increase its non-fossil fuel capacity to 500 GW and meet 50% of its energy requirements from renewables by 2030.
