The Minister of Power of India has dedicated 11 Renewable Energy Management Centres (REMCs) for renewable energy integration to the nation, as part of its target to reach 175 GW of renewable power capacity by 2022. The REMCs are used to monitor 55 GW of solar and wind power and are equipped with forecasting and scheduling tools to improve the integration of renewable resources into the power network and grid management.
The REMCs are implemented by PowerGrid. They are co-located with and managed by the State Load Dispatch Centres (SLDCs) in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Rajasthan. A the national and regional level, they are managed by the Power System Operation Corporation of India (POSOCO) and located in Regional Load Dispatch Centres (RLDCs) at Bengaluru, Mumbai and New Delhi, and at the National Load Dispatch Centre (NLDC) in the Northern Region.
