Rajasthan Solar Park Development Company Ltd (RSDCL), a subsidiary of the Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Ltd (RRECL), is developing India’s first mega solar park with a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Bikaner, Rajasthan (India).
The Pugal Solar Park will feature an installed generation capacity of 2.45 GW and a 5 GWh BESS, according to the local newspaper Times of India (28/10/2025).
- The project has completed all land-related formalities, including mutation and title clearance.
- In partnership with Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Prasaran Nigam (RVPN), the State transmission utility in Rajasthan, 765/400 kV grid substations and transmission lines are being established to evacuate the power. Full power offtake is guaranteed by the State government.
This announcement comes after the Indian Ministry of Power reported that the country’s total installed electricity capacity surpassed 500 GW in September 2025, reaching 500.89 GW. Non-fossil fuel sources (including renewable energy, hydro, and nuclear) accounted for 256.09 GW (over 51%), while fossil-fuel-based sources contributed 244.8 GW (roughly 49%) (KEI, 31/10/2025).
