I&M (AEP) seeks 1.3 GW of renewables project (United States) 

Indiana Michigan Power (I&M), an affiliate of the US energy group American Electric Power (AEP), has issued a request for proposals (RFP) for 1,300 MW of renewable projects, including 800 MW of wind and 500 MW of solar. The company expects some of the new projects to be online by as early as the end of 2024 and the entire 1,300 MW portfolio to be online as early as the end of 2025. Bids are due 21 April 2022, and I&M plans to have contracts with successful developers by the end of 2022. The selected projects will be submitted to state regulatory commissions in Indiana and Michigan for their review and approval.

I&M serves more than 600,000 customers in Indiana and Michigan (US). The company has 2,278 MW of nuclear generation in Michigan, 450 MW of purchased wind generation from Indiana, more than 22 MW of hydro generation in both states, nearly 35 MW of large-scale solar generation in both states, and 2,620 MW of coal-fired generation in Indiana. AEP has more than 31 GW of capacity, including more than 6.1 GW of renewables. More than 80% of its energy delivered in 2021 was emission-free.
