Ignis will develop six renewable energy projects in Peru (1.9 GW)

The Spanish renewable project developer Ignis has announced plans to develop six renewable energy projects in Peru, with a combined capacity of 1.9 GW, between 2025 and 2028.

Four wind projects with a combined capacity of about 1.5 GW will be located in northern Peru, for a total expected investment of over US$1bn. Three wind projects are already in advanced stages of development in the Lambayeque region and one project is located in the Piura region. The northern projects are expected to become operational by 2028. In addition, Ignis is developing two solar PV projects with a capacity of 200 MW each in the Arequipa region (Southern Peru) for an expected investment of US$159m: the PV Alba and PV Blanca projects are scheduled to begin construction works in 2025.

All the projects are expected to be connected to the National Interconnected Electric System (SEIN) once completed, with Ignis studying the construction a new electrical substation, the expansion of the San José electrical substation, and the construction of a 220 kV transmission line of approximately 23.22 km to connect its solar projects to the national grid.
