Iberdrola has obtained the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the construction of a new 375 MW solar PV project in the town of Cedillo, Cáceres province, western Spain. The solar plant is expected to generate 582 GWh/year of power. It will be composed of 576,000 bifacial photovoltaic modules. Commissioning is scheduled in early 2023.
In August 2022, Iberdrola announced it planned to add 1.4 GW of solar capacity in Spain in the coming months, among which six solar projects, totalling 873 MW, that Iberdrola plans to start building before the end of 2022. Iberdrola has an installed capacity of more than 19.3 GW and aims to reach 25 GW in the coming years. The company plans to allocate €14.3bn by 2025 for the deployment of renewables and smart grids plan.
In 2021, solar accounted for 15% of Spain’s installed capacity with 17 GW.
