Iberdrola inaugurates the 496 MW Saint-Brieuc offshore wind park in France

The Spanish energy company Iberdrola has inaugurated the 496 MW Saint-Brieuc offshore wind project, located in north-western France. It the second largest in the country and the first in the Brittany Region. Iberdrola had completed construction of the wind park in late May 2024, with construction starting in May 2023. The €2.4bn Saint-Brieuc project features 62 Siemens Gamesa’s SG 8.0-167 DD wind turbines and is expected to produce around 1.8 TWh/year.

In May 2024, EDF, Enbridge, CPP Investments, and Skyborn Renewables also inaugurated the 500 MW Fécamp offshore wind park, located off the coast of Normandy, in north-western France. 

France plans to reach 40% of electricity produced from renewable sources by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2050. France also aims to develop 40 GW of offshore wind capacity by 2050.
