Huanghe Hydropower Development, a subsidiary of Chinese state-owned State Power Investment Corporation (SPIC), plans to develop a 16 GW renewable complex in the Hainan prefecture of China. The project will consist of 10 GW of solar PV, 5 GW of wind power and 1 GW of concentrating solar power (CSP).
The company has named nine solar panel manufacturers to supply 3,182 MW of PV capacity under the first phase of the project (600 MW from Trina Solar, 485 MW from JA Solar, 470 MW from Longi, 420 MW from Eging, 407 MW from Solargiga, 314 MW from JinkoSolar, 288 MW from CPI Solar Power Xi’An, 150 MW from Jolywood and 48 MW from GS-Solar). The first phase of the project will also include 2 GW of wind power capacity.
Huanghe Hydropower already holds a 18 GW power generation portfolio including 5.8 GW of solar and wind power capacity, with hydropower accounting for the bulk of the remaining capacity. The project will nearly double the company's capacity.
