Hive Energy will develop 4 GW of solar power and battery projects in Turkey

The UK-based energy company Hive Energy plans to develop 4 GW of solar power plants with energy storage facilities in 30 locations across 19 cities in Turkey for a total investment of TRY75bn (US$4bn). The company has applied for co-located solar and battery storage projects with capacities ranging from 11 MW to 230 MW in scale.

Once the grid capacities have been granted for pre-license, Hive Energy and its partners will initiate discussions with international funds and financial institutions to attract foreign direct investment to Turkey. Hive Energy has already completed a 10.5 MW solar power project in Turkey, located in the south-eastern province of Adıyaman and generating 18 GWh/year of electricity.

In early 2023, Turkey published its National Energy Plan, in which the country aims to increase its solar energy capacity more than fivefold to reach 52.9 GW by 2035 (7.8 GW in 2021).
