Harbour Energy has secured the developing funding for its 4 MtCO2/year Viking CCS project in the Humber region (United Kingdom) (Harbour Energy press release, 16/07/2026). The funding is expected to support further technical and commercial work on the project which is scheduled to start operations in the early 2030s. With the approval, the project moves towards a final investment decision (FID), subject to project readiness and affordability.
Viking CCS is Harbour Energy’s operated CO₂ transport and storage project designed to support decarbonisation in the Humber region, one of the UK’s most industrialised regions. The project completed FEED in the first quarter of 2025 and secured Development Consent for its onshore pipeline in April 2025.
