H2Apex has acquired HH2E's hydrogen project in Lubmin (northern Germany) that HH2E intended to develop in two phases (100 MW in a first stage, to be later expanded to 1 GW). The deal includes the land, infrastructure, and all necessary connections, including existing electricity and water supply connections.
Since 2023, H2APEX has been developing its own electrolysis plant in Lubmin, with the first expansion phase of 100 MW scheduled for completion in 2028. The company plans to scale this facility to 600 MW of installed electrolysis capacity. Following the acquisition of HH2E’s project, H2APEX will construct an additional 100 MW plant in its first phase, also set for completion by 2028, with a mid-term expansion to 1 GW. The electricity used for the H2 production will be mainly sourced from northern Germany and exclusively from renewable sources.
Lubmin is one of the the most promising locations for the German hydrogen industry, due to its existing network of pipelines and its proximity to offshore wind parks.
H2APEX, a subsidiary of H2APEX Group, is a developer and operator of green hydrogen electrolysis plants based in Luxembourg. The acquisition reinforces the company’s focus on expanding its own hydrogen production and strengthens its activities at Germany.
