Golar LNG’s FLNG Gimi, which began LNG production offshore Mauritania and Senegal earlier in 2025, has reached its Commercial Operations Date (COD) under a 20-year lease and operations agreement with BP at the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) natural gas field, the largest project in BP’s portfolio. It means that the Floating LNG unit has started commercial operations, ending the commissioning phase. LNG production has successfully ramped up to approximately 2.4 Mt/year, or around 90% of its full capacity of 2.7 Mt/year.
BP is the operator of the project with a 56% stake, in partnership with Kosmos Energy (27%), Petrosen (10%), and Société Mauritanienne Des Hydrocarbures (SMH) (7%). BP has recently accelerated its strategy to boost its upstream business by aiming to bring ten new projects online by the end of 2027.
