GridStor has closed a USD220m financing agreement for the 100 MW/400 MWh White Tank BESS project in Maricopa County, Arizona, the United States (GridStor press release, 09/09/2026). The facility is scheduled to enter service in the first half of 2027 and has secured a 20-year tolling agreement with Arizona Public Service (APS). The utility supplies approximately 1.4 million homes and businesses across Arizona.
The project is intended to strengthen system reliability as electricity consumption increases due to population growth and expanding industrial demand. APS recorded a new peak demand on 2 August 2026, exceeding its previous 2025 record by 5%.
Backed by Goldman Sachs Asset Management, GridStor has a pipeline of more than 3 GW of battery storage projects at an advanced development stage or under construction across the western and central United States.
