Grenergy, a Spanish clean energy producer, has secured capacity contracts for five independent storage projects in Poland totalling 2.1 GWh (Grenergy press release, 13/01/2026).
These contracts came through an auction by Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne (PSE), Poland’s electricity system operator, where Grenergy captured over 11% of available storage capacity. The five projects, Fred, George, Lucius, Hagrid, and Harry, offer 534 MW of combined power to provide reserve capacity during low periods, with services starting in January 2030. Compensation stands at a fixed annual rate of PLN465.02 (€110 or US$128) per kW over 17 years, guaranteeing over €132m (US$154m) in minimum revenue.
Grenergy also received PLN34m (€8m or US$0m) from the Polish government for four smaller standalone BESS projects totalling 136 MWh, operational by 2028, bringing its total Polish standalone pipeline to 5 GWh.
