Grenergy has signed a 12-year financial tolling agreement for the storage system of its Escuderos hybrid project, consisting of a 200 MW solar PV park and a 680 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) in Castilla La Mancha (Spain) (Grenergy, 27/04/2026). Construction of the BESS system will begin in the second half of 2026, with commissioning targeted for 2027.
This agreement, signed with an undisclosed international utility rated Investment Grade by Moody’s and Standard & Poor’s, adds to the 12-year power purchase agreement (PPA) signed with Galp Energia in 2020 for the 200 MW solar park.
Grenergy has already developed a solar+storage hybridisation model with its Oasis de Atacama and Oasis Central platforms in Chile. The Oasis de Atacama project includes a capacity of 2 GW+11 GWh of storage and is expected to be completed in 2027 for a total investment of EUR2bn (USD2.3bn). The Oasis Central currently projects 1.1 GW of solar capacity and 4 GWh of storage, with an estimated investment of EUR900m (USD1.1bn).
